“Spring Rolls” of rice with ham & cheese

Ingredients:

  • ½ pound of phyllo
  • 100 gr. Fino rice
  • 150 gr. Cheddar cheese (grated)
  • 150 gr. Ham chopped
  • 100 gr. butter
  • 100 gr. Feta cheese (grated)
  • Oil for brushing the leaves
  • Salt

Preparation

Boil the rice following the instructions written on the package and drain it off well.

Place the butter in a saucepan and cook over low heat. Once melted, add the ham, the cheddar cheese and the feta cheese.

Then add the rice. Mix well and remove from heat.

Cut the leaves into strips and at the edge of each strip put a spoonful of filling. Fold the strips into rolls or making triangles, closing the first side of each strip well, so as the filling non to escape. When done place them in a pan.

Bake in medium oven at 180 º C for about half an hour until they get a gold and blonde color.

Even fried food can be permissible while made at home, as all ingredients and the olive oil are controlled. Olive oil is the most “durable” oil, when cooked at high temperatures.
